File a Witness Slip in Support of the SAFER Communities Act
Join the Workers Center for Racial Justice (WCRJ) as we mobilize our members and allies to file Witness Slips in support of the SAFER Communities Act. It takes just 30 seconds and it will help to advance WCRJ's fight to end mass incarceration and secure equity and opportunity for formerly incarcerated Illinoisans.
The SAFER Communities Act would divest public dollars from the state prison system and reinvest resources back into the community, creating up to 20,000 new jobs for formerly incarcerated workers. In order to ensure that this important piece of legislation passes the committee vote, WCRJ needs all of our members to show their support by filing a Witness Slip in favor of the bill.
How to File a Witness Slip
The Illinois Legislature has a Witness Slip process that allows constituents to voice either their support or opposition to a bill ahead of a committee hearing. Witness slips can have a powerful impact on how legislators vote on a piece of legislation. Instructions for filing a witness slips are detailed below.
